VAT Manager – In house role with hybrid working arrangement

We are working with an exciting brand, in Glasgow to bring on board their Tax appointment

My client is looking for a Glasgow based VAT professional to provide VAT and Sales Tax compliance and advisory support to billing, financial system and accounting teams across the firm. You will be working as part of Partnership Tax team, within the Financial Management team based in the Glasgow office. Reporting to the London based Director of Partnership Tax and Partner Services. 

The team consists of approximately 10 members in Glasgow, with a wider team London.

 

Hybrid working: 2/3 days work from office

Core Working Hours: 9:00 am - 5:00pm

 

Main Responsibilities:

 

  • Respond to UK and Group VAT billing queries.

  • Collaborate with external advisors on non-European VAT/Sales Tax billing queries.

  • Prepare and file quarterly UK VAT returns for one Group registration, one stand-alone UK entity, one Irish entity, and a Luxembourg branch. Manage associated payments and accounting entries.

  • Provide support to the Elite 3E Financial Systems team in implementing Indirect Tax legislation changes, particularly related to "e-billing" and tax authority digital reporting initiatives.

  • Assist the accounting team with the introduction of the "intercompany billing" system as it relates to VAT.

  • Monitor changes in global Indirect Tax legislation and provide necessary advice.

  • Conduct VAT training for the Financial Management team and, when appropriate, the wider business.

  • Provide internal support and act as a liaison with tax authorities and external advisors during Indirect Tax audits.

  • Assist with Withholding Taxes deducted from client and inter-office payments.

  • Support the Director of Partnership Tax and Partners Services on ad hoc indirect and direct tax projects.

 

Essential Skills and Experience:

 

  • Extensive UK VAT compliance and advisory experience, preferably in the professional services sector.

  • Some exposure to non-UK VAT/Sales Tax legislation with a willingness to learn about these areas.

  • Relevant accounting/tax qualification.

  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently.

  • Familiarity with financial systems changes related to VAT.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills to articulate complex Indirect Tax matters clearly
