How did you get involved with Career Ready?
There was a notice in the notice board at myschool and I thought it sounded like a great opportunity for me. I told my mum about Career Ready and she encouraged me to pursue the opportunity.
What has working with your mentor been like?
Working with my mentor Jon has been great as he’s helped me settle in and provides assistance when I need it. Had I not been for my mentor, I don’t think I would be doing so well in my placement.

Meeting new people, building my contacts and gaining new skills.
Do you think you’d consider a career in recruitment?
As of right now, I don’t see myself working in recruitment as I have an alternative plan. But, I can’t speak for the future.
What are your career plans when you finish school?
I have got a college placement at Edinburgh College to study acting.

How did you get involved with Career Ready?
I got involved with Career Ready through one of my teachers, who thought the programme would be really beneficial for me as it would allow me to get more support and help me build my confidence.
What has working with your mentor been like?
I’ve really enjoyed working with my mentor over the past year or so. It’s been great knowing that if I’m struggling with work, need more support or advice -- I can turn to her for support. We’ve also created a really good relationship and get along really well. We also have similar personalities, which makes me feel more confident and means that I find it easier to talk to her about any worries or concerns.
What are you enjoying most about your internship?
I enjoy having that chance to experience different job roles within Change. I’ve especially enjoyed working alongside the Senior Compliance Adviser and helping her with the 1st interview audit reports as its nothing like anything I’ve done before.
I also like how nice, kind and welcoming everyone at Change has been so far.
Do you think you’d consider a career in recruitment? If so, why?
Yes, I might consider a career in recruitment because I’m really enjoying my time at Change and it would be good to keep my options open.
What are your career plans when you finish school?
When I leave school, I plan to go to college to study an HND in music as I’ve always dreamed about becoming a music teacher so I can support others.
