Foreword by Mark McFall, Group MD of Change Recruitment Group

In June we experienced little change in the number of candidates that are being placed on both a temporary and permanent basis. Moreover, we saw growth slowing. That said, the volume of candidates available for temporary roles rose for the first time in almost three years.

Market Summary

The number of candidates being placed in temporary positions haas been broadly consistent for many months now, and June was the first time that we have seen the number of placements decrease. On the permanent side, the figure is almost unchanged from last month.  The rise in permanent staff demand north of the border was stronger than across the UK as a whole, with the rate of growth for the latter the slowest for over three years. We experienced a high in terms of salaries in April, but these have decreased somewhat since that high. Growth in permanent staff demand remained strong and was led by the Engineering & Construction sector.
