We were delighted to welcome Kris Kelly from SAMH to our Glasgow office last week.

He spent time with our management team giving us valuable information and insight about Mental Health.  We learned about the valuable work that SAMH do in our local communities, common mental health problems as well as finding out ways to look after our own mental health and how to support others when needed.

SeeMe is Scotland’s Programme to tackle mental health stigma and discrimination.

They provide a free elearning programme to help people, including employers, learn more about this and how to make your workplace mentally healthy.    To access this, please click here.

As well as the information we were given, we have some actions from the session based on the 5 steps to Better Mental Health

We will be appointing Mental Health Champions in each of our offices and holding on-going Health Awareness Days to stimulate how we can continually improve what we do.    We are also looking to incorporate into our working day things such as a walking club at lunchtimes and looking at other ways people can keep active and we are relaunching our private healthcare scheme making sure that all our employees will get the benefit of it.

Our session with Kris was excellent and we are already arranging another for our Edinburgh Office.  Thanks to the SAMH team for taking the time to come in and see us.
