Assistant Tax Manager l Edinburgh or Glasgow l Hybrid 

Change Recruitment are supporting the recruitment of an Assistant Tax Manager in their Edinburgh or Glasgow office on a permanent basis with hybrid working. If you’re an experienced tax professional looking to join a renowned firm and develop your career, you’d be encouraged to apply.

Your key responsibilities:

• Prepare and submit annual tax returns for individuals and trusts promptly.
• Negotiate correct tax liabilities with HMRC within specified time frames.
• Provide proactive advice on tax mitigation and organize clients' tax affairs.
• Respond promptly to client, HMRC, and other agent queries and correspondence.
• Maintain internal records and files, ensuring up-to-date client information.
• Complete draft Tax Returns for individuals and trusts, including necessary calculations.
• Lodge Client Tax Returns with the Inspector of Taxes and appeal incorrect assessments when necessary.
• Keep abreast of relevant tax legislation and rules, ensuring continuous professional development.
• Participate in training sessions for the tax department and the wider firm.

Key skills and experience you’ll ideally have:

• 3 to 5 years of experience in a similar role, with a strong background in Personal Tax, UK Income Tax and Capital Gains.
• Preferably ATT and/or CIOT qualified to demonstrate a deep understanding of tax legislation and rules.
• Strong processing skills, numerical proficiency, and high attention to detail.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and independently with minimal supervision.
• Initiative to take on complex individual tax returns and provide assistance to managers.
