Assistant Accountant required for our client’s Edinburgh office with flexible and hybrid working. Reporting to the Head of Finance and joining a small and established team, you will ensure financial reporting and recording is completed in an accurate and timely manner.
This Assistant Financial Accountant role would be well suited to candidates who are Part Qualified (PQ) or Qualified by Experience (QBE) and looking for a varied role to develop their skill set with a good work-life balance.
The package for the role includes a salary up to circa 35k with private healthcare and generous leave allowance.
Supporting the preparation of monthly management accounts
Administration of purchase ledger and assistance with accounts receivable
Quarterly HMRC reporting
Processing weekly / monthly supplier payment runs and monthly prepayments and accruals
Delivery of Bank and Balance Sheet reconciliations
Recording of Fixed Assets and running of monthly depreciation
Preparation of monthly staff payroll and maintenance of employee payroll records
Submitting pensions for all employees and appropriate tax information to HMRC
Developing operational processes and controls within the finance function
Support with preparation of annual audit
Responding to ad-hoc information / analysis requests from internal and external stakeholders
Key skills and experience:
Advanced Excel skills
Experience supporting month-end procedures
Strong organisational and time management
Good communication skills with the ability to collaborate with a team
Experience using Sage50, Sage Payroll and Xero desirable
