Head of Financial Accounting

Change Accountancy and Finance are supporting our global client, based in Edinburgh, to recruit a Financial Reporting lead to their team. The role will be on an initial 6 month interim basis, inside of IR35, with a range of key duties which need to be undertaken as they approach year end. Applicants for the role will be able to show strong experience of technical IFRS accounting, blending a confidence with the standards with experience in leading a team in month and year end reporting. Coupled with this, the role will involve extensive outreach to the wider finance team, taking a senior role in engagement to ensure compliance with standards, as well as delivering on a range of month end tasks.

Key duties of the role will cover;

• Management and oversight of a team of qualified accountants, coaching and supporting across month and year end deliverables
• Strong technical comprehension of IFRS – particular focus on IFRS9 and 16, taking a lead on accounting queries and application of the standards
• Developing and setting in place a robust reporting timetable
• Engaging with wider finance and business to ensure accuracy of financial reporting outputs
• Experience leading a team in financial control and reporting in either a shared service or complex consolidated accounting structure
• Ownership of audit engagement and relationship with big 4 audit partners
• Ability to blend project accounting and process improvements with BAU deliverables for the team

Applicants will show a number of years post qualifying experience, gained in a similar role, whilst having a blend of technical and BAU accounting knowledge which they will lead on in the team. People management and experience setting a timetable for reporting and key milestones across the year is expected. Our client would like to see experience from a similar FMCG / Financial Services or Professional Practice background and a confidence owning complex accounting issues.

The role will initially be on a 6 month interim basis, but will have scope for extension or possible permanent conversion, and will be based in the clients Edinburgh City Centre office 3 days per week, with a short notice required.

Daily Rate: £550 - £650 per day – inside IR35

Hybrid Pattern: 3 days in office
