The Deals Tax team works closely with the Deals practice to advise on the tax implications of all aspects of transactions including; Mergers & Acquisition, Business Recovery Services and Real Estate. 

The role sits within the Private Equity Portfolio (PE Portfolio) Tax team, one of the most successful teams within Deals Tax network.

The PE Portfolio team advises Private Equity backed businesses, working collaboratively across specialisms to drive value and help clients succeed at all stages of the deal lifecycle.

The role would suit a candidate with a strong UK corporate tax background, a good awareness of other taxes, as well as experience of managing client accounts. Experience of transaction work and/or the Private Equity market is desirable, but not essential, as full training and support would be provided.

The Role

You will work in a team providing tax advisory services to a range of PE portfolio company clients delivering bespoke tax advice in relation to the PE portfolio company and the transactions it is involved with. The work is wide-ranging including international tax and supporting clients throughout the deal cycle.

  • Play a key role in building and maintaining relationships with clients. In particular, working closely with clients to provide them with proactive innovative and commercial tax services.

  • Seek specialist input from other parts of tax and wider network - in particular Transaction Service and non-UK teams

  • Be actively involved in business development activities, helping to identify and research opportunities with new and existing clients

Essential skills and experience

  • Chartered Accountant (ACCA, ICAEW, ICAS, CAI) or Chartered Tax Advisor (ATT, CTA) or equivalent international qualification

  • UK corporate tax skills and experience as well as good awareness of other taxes (VAT, employment taxes, management taxes etc)

  • Some transaction or PE Portfolio experience is desirable, but not essential  

  • A flexible approach to allow you to work as part of a number of client/transaction teams simultaneously

  • Ability to build internal and external relationships and networks, both within the UK and overseas

  • Developed communication skills, specifically in negotiating with and influencing others

  • Strong analytical, project management and report writing skills.

  • An inquisitive mind and ability to solve problems as part of a diverse team

  • Ability to use tax technical knowledge & insights in a fast paced commercial environment
  • Use technical knowledge and commercial awareness to help solve important problems for our clients

  • Take responsibility for developing your own and the team's technical and business acumen; keeping up to date with business and economic issues, industry insights and sharing your experience and technical knowledge as part of a team.
