Change recruitment's client,  a leading global business, recognized for our innovation and excellence are seeking a Temporary Senior Payroll Officer to join their Glasgow-based team. You will play a key role in ensuring the efficient and accurate management of our payroll operations across the UK and internationally.The Senior Payroll Officer will take ownership of the payroll function for the company, ensuring timely, accurate processing of payroll for a large and diverse workforce. You will be responsible for overseeing all payroll activities, managing a small team, and ensuring compliance with UK tax laws and regulatory requirements. This role is ideal for someone with extensive payroll experience looking to make a significant impact in a fast-paced global environment.

Job Title: Temporary Senior Payroll Officer

Location: Glasgow

Hourly Rate: £17 - £18 per hour

Job Type: Temporary (6 months with potential for extension)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the end-to-end payroll process for a large volume of employees, including salaried and hourly staff across multiple locations.
  • Oversee and mentor a small payroll team, ensuring they meet deadlines and provide accurate information.
  • Ensure compliance with UK payroll legislation, tax laws, and other statutory requirements (e.g., pensions, benefits, holiday pay).
  • Process all payroll-related activities, including new starters, leavers, salary changes, benefits, and bonuses.
  • Prepare and submit relevant reports to internal stakeholders, including finance, HR, and management.
  • Manage payroll queries from employees, providing clear and timely resolutions.
  • Review payroll data for accuracy and make necessary adjustments or corrections.
  • Prepare year-end processes, including P60/P11D preparation and ensuring tax compliance.
  • Work closely with HR, Finance, and external auditors to ensure smooth payroll operations.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the payroll department.

Key Requirements:

  • Extensive experience in payroll administration, with at least 3-5 years in a senior payroll role.
  • Strong understanding of UK payroll procedures, tax laws, and statutory requirements.
  • Experience managing payroll teams and working in high-volume payroll environments.
  • Familiarity with payroll software systems (e.g., Sage, ADP) and advanced Excel skills.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build relationships at all levels.
  • A proactive approach and the ability to identify and resolve payroll-related issues independently.

Desirable:

  • CIPP qualification or equivalent payroll certification.
  • Experience with international payroll or multi-country payroll management.
  • Knowledge of HRIS systems and experience with integrations between payroll and HR/Finance systems.
